Nautical Inspirations

A good day is a day spent on the water. Whether you’re boating or relaxing beachside, there is nothing more soothing than ocean waves in the summertime. These New Englanders had that in mind when designing these yacht inspired homes.

Custom Boat Bar

Siemasko + Verbridge renovated an oceanfront home that overlooks the gateway to Marblehead Neck. This custom home bar is made from a hull of a boat that was salvaged from an old boat yard on the North Shore of Boston.

Crow’s Nest

Catch breathtaking views of the ocean on this nautically inspired crow’s nest designed by Meyer & Meyer, Inc. At this Beach Bay Point home, the main house was designed to have wings that appear to grow out of the hillside and spread outward toward three sides of ocean views.

Ship Inspirations

The “Grey Ghost” home located in Chatham, MA is a historical landmark in New England. The exterior front porch has a window that was designed to look like a ship’s wheel.

Inside, the third floor bathroom of the home contains a cast iron claw foot tub that was designed to resemble a room on a ship.

The third floor has restored millwork, stained bead-board wainscoting, and pine beams with newly wired light fixtures.

Another Cape Cod dormer for the boys was designed to replicate a ship’s cabin. We recently blogged about this Cape Cod compound that was also featured in the Boston Design Guide 17th Annual Edition.

Ship Ladder

The award winning Cape Ann Beachfront Cottage Renovation by Howell Custom Building Group has ship inspired details inside. The goal of the renovation was to create more living space and aesthetic appeal, while also enhancing the water views.
