NE Chapter of the IFDA Announces Inaugural Participation in 3rd Annual International  ‘Take a Seat'

The New England Chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA-NE) is pleased to announce they will be participating for the first time in the third annual ‘Take a Seat’ Design Exhibition. This is a world-wide event kicking off May 13 and running through June 3, 2015.

 

‘Take a Seat’ features up-cycled and newly designed chairs crafted from a variety of recycled materials by local professionals such as architects, builders, craftsmen, designers and students of the furnishings and design industry.  These one-of-a-kind artwork chairs will be displayed throughout Greater Boston on a traveling exhibit before being auctioned at the ‘Take A Seat’ Gala. This international design event is taking place simultaneously in Japan, New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, Northern California, and premiering this year in New England.

Exhibition timeline:

Private Press Preview and Opening Night – May 13th, 4:30-8:30PM at Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams Showroom, 625 Worcester Street, Natick, MA
IFDA NE will host the press and design community for the ‘Take a Seat’ opening evening. This will be a simultaneous celebration with IFDA chapters in New York.

Traveling Exhibit Cocktail Reception – May 20th, 5:30-8:30PM at Woodmeister Master Builders, 1317 Washington Street, Boston, MA
IFDA NE will host a festive cocktail reception to showcase select designer chairs.

Gala and Auction – June 3rd,  5:30–8:30PM at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum, 15 Newton Street, Brookline, MA
The gala will be held in honor of the chair designers.  Chairs will be paired with different motorcycle and antique auto exhibits before being auctioned off.

Proceeds from New England’s ‘Take a Seat’ will benefit the Women’s Institute of Housing and Economic Development, a national award-winning affordable housing development organization. This event is produced by the IFDA-NE in collaboration with Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Boston (BRAGB).
                                                                                                                                    


The IFDA, founded in 1947, is a worldwide professional alliance of leaders representing residential and commercial furnishings and design. Members are executives from companies engaged in the design, production, distribution, promotion, communication, or education in the furnishings and design and/or related industries.  The New England IFDA is the organization’s largest chapter in the nation.
