Snow Day Essentials

With two feet of snow headed straight for Boston, a snow day tomorrow is practically a guarantee. So, what will you need to keep warm and entertained for the next 24 hours? We've created a list of snow day essentials with everything from candles to Netflix recommendations.

The first thing you will want to make sure you have is a few good candles, both in case of a power outage, and also to maintain a cozy and comfortable environment. The LAFCO Redwood Candle below has notes of redwood, cedar, and huckleberry, evoking a sense of contentment and relaxation.

Next, what's more important than a warm blanket or two? The Nantucket Looms Handwoven Mohair Throw below is both beautiful and incredibly warm, made from the highest quality South African mohair.

One of our favorite winter teas is a simple Chai tea, made from crushed spices, cinnamon sticks, ginger, and milk brought to a boil.

A 24-hour lockdown is the perfect excuse to bake a delicious winter recipe. We love this New England Apple Cider Cake, made with Granny Smith Apples and lemon. For the full recipe, click here

Of course, a snow day practically necessitates hours of guilt-free Netflix watching. Some of our favorite shows currently streaming include Sherlock, House of Cards, and Friends. Sherlock is a British contemporary take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detective tales, and will both make you laugh and also have you trying (and probably failing) to solve the plot twists and mysteries.

House of Cards is a critically-acclaimed political drama featuring ruthless U.S. Rep Francis Underwood as he navigates his way to the top, manipulating and scheming against anybody who stands in his way. The next season will be released in February, so catch up now!

Finally, after many years of waiting for hopeful fans, Friends was just put on up Netflix two weeks ago! All 10 seasons of everyone's favorite sitcom are ready to stream right now.
