Insurance for today’s highly successful families—those with multiple homes, valuable collections, domestic employees, and extravagant hobbies—is very much a unique discipline. But unlike the way in which people shop for financial advice, the vetting of home and auto insurance companies usually amounts to calling the nearest Main Street agent. C&S Insurance owners, Ben Cavallo and Keith Signoriello, aim to change this approach while building an awareness of what’s at stake.

“You can’t just rely on what your neighbor has for coverage, and I find that’s a common misconception,” says Signoriello. “Insurance is—or should be—as individualized as wealth planning. People should focus on their unique situation.” C&S launched its Private Client Group to help Massachusetts families do exactly this.

Cavallo & Signoriello have been the owners of C&S Insurance since 2006, assuming the reins of a second-generation company that was founded in 1959. The two men have grown C&S from a one-shop agency with eight employees, to one of Boston’s largest independent agencies, cited by Boston Business Journal in 2019 and again in 2020. C&S now maintains four office locations—including the former F.M. Walley Insurance in Dedham.

This past decade has certainly brought a lot of growth, along with Private Client Group solutions for the high-net-worth market. But that doesn’t mean C&S has lost its focus on service. “The service piece is always the biggest thing for us,” Signoriello emphasizes. “We’re always working to make life easier for our clients. We have no call centers here. Instead, we have incredibly knowledgeable account managers and a dedicated claims department.”

“I think the real success stories happen when a claim arises and our clients get a check immediately, so they’re back on track as soon as possible,” says Cavallo. “When a fire or a flood happens, that experience can be very difficult. The fact that we can lift that burden, in that moment, makes us feel good.”
