Gregory Lombardi Design completed this award-winning Country Gentleman’s Farm in Weston, Massachusetts.

This landscape evokes the Country Gentleman Farmer tradition of New England. The outdoor spaces flow from intimate garden rooms surrounding the home, through manicured lawns to adjacent meadows and woodlands beyond.

Formal measurements of the residence cue the orthogonal structure of the outdoors. Pure forms, such as the elliptical lawn, add a harmonious balance.

The guest arrival sequence is articulated with brick, paired piers and a rectangle of herringbone flatwork that serves as a permanent front door mat.

Custom gates are also used to provide pacing, multiple security points and refined ornamentation that carry through all fencing, benches and custom wood elements throughout the property.

The main drive delivers guests to the arrival court, which is flanked by the shade of overarching trees.

A custom detailed wooden arbor draws the gaze towards the gardens while segueing to a more intimate, human scale. From here the grounds are for strolling amidst an interplay of thresholds and transitions.

An understated palette of green and white prevails, compromising structured boxwood hedgerows softened with a variety of hosta, astilbe, roses, and hydrangea. A bosque of Kwanzan Cherry trees yiels to a blast of sunlight above a square lawn panel. Wide granite slabs step up to the great lawn, interrupting the march of lush peonies.
