Sherwin Williams is hosting an exclusive seminar for designers and architects on Steampunk Design at the Boston Design Center on Thursday, April 11th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Steampunk by Design team will help educate participants on how to tastefully incorporate this design style into residential interiors.

2013 is the year of Steampunk Design!  Time Magazine, IBM and the Chicago Tribune have all cited 2013 (and beyond) as the year of Steampunk Design while Sherwin Williams recently introduced a Steampunk Color Palette, "Midnite Mystery" for 2013.

Steampunk is the hybrid creation of old aesthetics and new technology inspired by technology of the early 1900s.

Steampunk inspires to connect the old with the new, and in turn spurs an increased desire for one of a kind pieces salvaged from the past – this includes antique furniture, artwork, and decorative elements that exemplify old world craftsmanship, beauty and history.

Steampunk-SketchSteampunk by Design is a collaborative of design enthusiasts, who maintain a passion for the character and charm of recycled vintage pieces, while also embracing the technology advancements and emerging products of the 21st century.

Bar-for-Steampunk.jpgeceOwner of Restoration Resources Bill Raymer is part of the Steampunk by Design team. For over 20-years he has “rescued” and sold architectural salvage and design elements from unique buildings to bring these character-filled pieces back to life, and Steampunk has only revitalized interest in repurposed elements.'

SteampunkThe seminar on Thursday is a private event open to designers and architects. Attendees must RSVP by calling (617) 737-1647 or by e-mail boston.designstudio@sherwin.com
