This modern single-family residence is located in a garden of a former estate in Chestnut Hill, MA. The 10,200-square-foot home is surrounded by private gardens and entertaining spaces.
Floor to ceiling windows on the home’s rear exterior grasp the beautiful outdoor views of the landscape.
Natural materials were used in the home’s design. Throughout the main living areas there is limestone flooring and exposed heavy timbers with the wood ceiling.
The fieldstone hearth in the rooms below compliment the home's natural materials and appearance.
Energy efficiency is an important aspect in this home’s design. Glass tube solar hot water collectors shade an atrium staircase. On the south-facing roof, thin photo-voltaics were used to help power the geothermal heat pump that provides much of the heating and cooling for home.
