In a day and age filled with amateur photographers where everyone has an iPhone, we felt compelled to highlight the talent of Roger Pelissier of Roger Pelissier Portrait Photography in Wellesley, Mass. We’ve been spending a great deal of time with Roger of late as we work toward an exciting upcoming project, and have been struck by his affable manner and knack for capturing great shots.

With all the rain we’ve been having lately, it’s hard to believe that we’re talking about how to keep moisture in your evergreens and shrubs over the winter (somebody please tell Mother Nature that it’s April showers), but indeed we are. We asked Erik J. Bednarek of EJB Designs, LLC—who has over two decades of expertise, including managing the landscape and sites of public parks and communities...

When Sleeping Dog Properties, Inc. worked with Elms Interior Design to reimagine this luxury condo at Boston’s Millennium Tower, a dynamic navy blue figured in greatly to the design mix. We love the look of sliding barn doors in interiors, and they’ve certainly come a long way since their agrarian roots. While they’ve been around for years, somehow they still feel like a novelty when brought indoors. These days, there are applications for every taste, from reclaimed and rustic to clean-lined and contemporary. Plus, they’re as functional as they are attractive, and serve to...

Lately, it seems that everywhere we turn we’re seeing new builds with black window frames. And it’s no wonder. These striking windows have a high-contrast, clean-lined sensibility and a timeless yet contemporary style. In fact, BDG’s publisher Melanie Perillo is incorporating Pella Windows and Doors’ black casement windows into her kitchen addition as we speak. Paired with a black matte stove,...

Exposed beams bring a rustic flair into the home, warming up crisp interiors and highlighting the architecture of a space. Whether unexpected or right on point, beams bring an inviting, down-to-earth bearing to ceiling height and inspire a mountainside cabin state of mind. We just love these strong and supportive types, and think you’ll agree.
Architectural Design, Inc. cultivated a "tree-house...

Designers these days are shaking things up, and mixing woods and different materials throughout the home. Just ask Mac Davis, owner and CEO of Mac Davis Flooring, whose hardwoods are often found on ceilings and on accent walls for a stunning and gravity-defying effect.
“It used to be that if the homeowner picked a solid white oak, it was going to be used everywhere and in the same color,” says...
