Mark L. Karas, CKMBD, a certified master kitchen & bath designer and resident of Revere, Massachusetts, was named President-Elect of the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA). The NKBA is the only trade association dedicated exclusively to the kitchen and bath industry, and the leading source of information and education for consumers and professionals alike.
As President-Elect of the NKBA, Karas will work alongside the current NKBA President to determine policies and influence the decisions of North America’s leading association in the kitchen and bath industry. Mr. Karas works with more than 70 local chapters across the United States and Canada and serves as an ambassador to international and national societies in the building and design fields.
A kitchen and bath industry professional for more than 30 years, Karas is the General Manager of Adams Kitchens, Inc. in Stoneham, Massachusetts. Karas’ involvement in the National Kitchen & Bath Association spans 20 years, during which he has served the Northern New England Chapter as Vice President of Communications, Vice President of Programs, and Chapter President. Drawing on years of experience, Karas has contributed to the industry on a national level by serving on the Board of Governors of Dealers, Professional Development Committee, and Certification Subcommittee, as well as the chairman of the Ad Hoc Sustainability Committee. His continued efforts in increasing the NKBA’s membership have earned him recognition as an honored member of the NKBA Ambassadors’ Club.
As a certified master kitchen & bath designer (CMKBD), Karas has shared his expertise educationally as an adjunct professor for Boston Architectural College, which is an NKBA-accredited school. He has taught certified kitchen designer (CKD) prep courses, in addition to kitchen and bath design at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts. He also lent his skilled eye to the position of judge for Yankee Magazine’s Kitchen Contest in 2008. His enthusiasm for the kitchen and bath industry, which originated with his own kitchen remodel project, is apparent in his consistent and tireless industry involvement
