Preparing vacation homes for the summer traveling season is important to start thinking about as summer nears.

Vacation homes are not only a wonderful retreat for the homeowners, but it can also be a great getaway spot for friends, family and renters to enjoy.

TMS Architects suggests vacation homeowners should start preparing vacation homes now by doing the following:  

• Clean up the landscape: Landscape is the first thing guests see. TMS Architects suggests adding new plants or flowers and checking for any needed porch maintenance.

• Adjust main living spaces: Main living spaces should accommodate large groups of people. Arranged the interior furniture design to warmly welcome guests and foster good conversation.

• Concentrate on the bedrooms: If possible, try to add bunk beds or multiple beds in all bedrooms. Vacationers often try to find homes that can accommodate many people. In the master bedroom, keep the design low-key with solid furniture and a simple wall color.

•  Prepare outdoor living and entertaining spaces: The outdoors should have plenty of furniture and space for seating, dining and gathering.
