Designing sustainable, eco-friendly homes is a high priority at Battle Associates Architects.
The high-end residential architecture firm recently completed a green home in Vermont, just north of Burlington on Lake Champlain. The home has a spectacular site that looks west across the lake to the Adirondacks. The home features geo-thermal heating, solar roof panels and solar hot water heating.
Whether it’s the homeowner or the professionals at Battle, a discussion about green building is always brought up and often becomes a high priority for everyone involved. Owner/Principal of Battle Associates John Battle says it’s become a trend for clients to approach them about building a sustainable home.
“There is now a higher level of concern about sustainability at the level of energy conservation,” John explains.
Building a sustainable home requires careful architectural attention to a lot of small details to the physical separator between the interior and exterior environments of the home. Green building is part of the design standard at Battle Associates. Along with sustainable building, they specialize in antique renovations, from simple boathouses to complicated barns.
This Vermont home will be published in New England Home later this year.
