Here at BDG, we believe that nobody wears holiday finery and decorations quite as well as the homes of New England. Our region’s classic properties were tailor-made for garlands of pine and traditional wreaths punctuated with bright red bows. As for our contemporary homes? They become even more dazzling when illuminated by thousands of tiny lights. Our (knit) hats are off to the following snow-globe worthy scenes and the landscape professionals responsible for their glittering splendor….
A Christmas Story

This traditional home and landscape, decorated by R.P. Marzilli & Company, couldn’t be more inviting. With its portico and columns draped in pine and white lights, and container planters brimming with seasonal greenery, this home looks to have stepped right out of a Norman Rockwell painting. Plus, from the outside looking in, you can spy just a hint of a stunning Christmas tree beyond the striking front door.
All that Glitters...
Design and construction by Polhemus Savery DaSilva; landscape decorations and lighting by landscape artisans Schumacher Companies
Designed and constructed by Polhemus Savery DaSilva, this Cape Cod residence sparkles with light, and has a crisp magnificence that calls to mind the bubbles of fine champagne. A dusting of snow quiets an otherwise kinetic design full of glimmering tree trunks and hedges, and outlined pathways and landscape elements.
On, Dasher!

In a modern home designed by Adolfo Perez Architects, and decked out for the yuletide by R.P. Marzilli & Company, it’s the pair of honey locust trees dripping with tiny white lights that make the approach so dashing. There is a sense of magic and pleasing geometry (note the double door’s dual wreaths) to the home and landscape’s ultra-cool lines.
Winter Warmer

This traditional home, designed by Patrick Ahearn Architect with landscape architecture by Dan Gordon Landscape Architects, may very well have been what Bing Crosby was dreaming of when singing “White Christmas.” With its festive entry gates, red-ribbon window boxes and tiny spruces, this residence welcomes all who enter.
Joy to the World!
Exterior holiday décor by Parterre Garden Services
This bright white entrance speaks to comfort and joy with its holly-berry red garlands and wreath designed by Parterre Garden Services. The evergreen compositions of the urn and basket serve as natural counterpoints within the scene, while the metal reindeer, cardinals perched on their antlers, lend a playful charm.
Season's Greetings
Exterior holiday décor by a Blade of Grass
Landscape design and installation firm a Blade of Glass clearly knows how to spruce up an entrance, and this one is decidedly merry with its shimmering garland, wreath, window box, and pair of red and green planters. Here it’s not the treetops that glisten, rather, it’s the hedges and shrubs.
'Tis a Gift to be Simple
Occasion barn by Yankee Barn Homes; photo design by Courtney Allison of French Country Cottage
This “occasion barn” by Yankee Barn Homes has a sweet simplicity, not to mention a clean-lined Yankee sensibility. Festooned with glowing old-fashioned bulbs and with one shining Christmas tree at the center, there is a feeling of peace to this setting and maybe, dare we say it, an air of hope.
