Orbital Table by Calligaris

A new wave in design has begun to emerge. The future of furniture design blends the latest in technology with the beauty of clean and modern lines. IL Décor presents Orbital, a design that could only be conjured up in the mind of the great Pininfarina. To understand the style of the future we must appreciate the influences of designs from the past. From their first meeting in 1951 within the foothills of Italy between Turin and Modena began the partnership between Enzo Ferrari and Sergio Pininfarina.  And there the designs of luxury European cars were ignited. Traces of their signature style run through the Orbital dining room table. This magnificent table captures the sleekness of a Ferrari with the technology of the Calligaris technical team.

Orbital is the dining room table that will have all your guests in awe. Within a moment of swaying its chrome lever the event begins. Two pristine glass leafs are released from an opening mechanism which was artistically crafted by Calligaris. The glass leaves swiftly float from underneath the fixed portion of the glass table top and lock into position. Guided by arms of steel in a circular motion the table transforms. Watching the process is made possible through the glass of the table top.  The result, in just a moment of time Orbital extends from 65 inches seating 6, to 100 inches to seat 10, accommodating additional guests not only quickly but in style.

As you move down the body of this table towards the pedestal the influence of Ferrari is abundant. Glazed in polyurethane the metal base is finished in a choice of black or white shine.  Taking on the form of a window, smooth angles outline the squared off space within the pedestal, giving a light feel to its strong frame. Color variations between bright glass with a white frame contrasts against its second choice of a smoked glass top with a black frame.

Featured in the action packed film The Equalizer by Columbia pictures starring Denzel Washington due out next year, the Orbital dining room table had been taken from our showroom, IL Décor in Boston’s Back Bay. IL Décor is the only location in New England where this dining room table is accessible to view in person.
